Under 16s Match Report – 18th October

Under 16s action took centre stage yesterday morning as the Wanderers Under 16s and Suffolk Schools match both took place at The GBS Stadium.

The Ipswich Wanderers Under 16s ran out 9-0 winners against Framlingham Knights and coach Paul Chapman gave us his thoughts on the match:

Ipswich Wanderers U16’s welcomed Framlingham Town U16 Knights to GBS Stadium on Saturday for a league home match. The hosts produced a stunning display to secure a comprehensive 9-0 victory under the watchful eye of referee Oscar Joy.

Ipswich Wanderers lined up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, with Zack Baker in goal behind a back four consisting of Charlie Peck at right back, Reece Turner and Robson Sheldrake as central defenders, and Riley Bevan on the left. Joel Burgess operated as the holding central midfielder, shielding the defence and linking play. Ahead of him, the three attacking midfielders were Lucas Wood on the right, Lorenzo Palladino centrally positioned as the attacking midfielder, and Daniel Chapman on the left. Up front, the strike partnership featured Jake Youngs on the right and Aden Bilchev on the left. The substitutes bench included Tye Phair, Alfie Smith, Freddie Keates, Hayden Tyler, Mason Wedgwood, and Aleksander Nastev.

From the first whistle, Ipswich Wanderers imposed themselves on the game with their attacking shape allowing good interplay between the forwards and midfield. The early exchanges saw Aden Bilchev quickly make his mark, opening the scoring in the very first minute with a goal expertly set up by Lorenzo Palladino. The Wanderers’ front line was relentless as just a minute later Jake Youngs doubled the lead, assisted by Bilchev’s incisive pass.

Ipswich continued to press, and at the fifth minute Daniel Chapman found the net following another assist from Bilchev, who had started tha game in impressive form. The visitors struggled to contain the young Wanderers as an attacking threat and Bilchev soon struck again in the tenth minute, once more set up by Palladino’s vision. The scoring spree continued with Joel Burgess joining the party at the eleventh minute, finishing off a move orchestrated by Bilchev’s precise delivery. On the 20th minute, Bilchev completed his hat-trick, this time assisted by Jake Youngs.

The Wanderers’  midfield and forwards combining seamlessly to cut through Framlingham’s defence, with Wanderers making their first substitution in the 23rd minute when Tye Phair replaced Charlie Peck at right back in a tactical switch. Shortly after, at the 26th minute, Alfie Smith came on for the prolific Bilchev, signalling a further formation reshuffle. Two minutes later, Freddie Keates replaced Lucas Wood, and at the 30th minute Riley Bevan unleashed a spectacular long-range strike to extend the lead further. Ipswich continued to rotate their squad with Hayden Tyler coming on for Bevan and Mason Wedgwood replacing Palladino at the 31st minute, followed by Aleksander Nastev taking over from Burgess a minute later. The half concluded with Ipswich firmly in control at 7-0.

Early in the second half, Aden Bilchev was reintroduced for Daniel Chapman at the 42nd minute. Rotating substitutions continued with Lucas Wood returning for Jake Youngs at the 56th minute and Riley Bevan coming back on for Hayden Tyler at 65 minutes, alongside Palladino replacing Alfie Smith.

Freddie Keates added his name to the scoresheet at the 67th minute, finishing off a move created by Palladino’s assist. The changes contiued with Joel Burgess replacing Aleksander Nastev and Alfie Smith coming on for Mason Wedgwood at 68 minutes. Charlie Peck returned to the right back position, replacing Tye Phair at the 70th minute, while Aleksander Nastev came back on for Keates. The final goal of the match arrived at the 78th minute when Aden Bilchev completed his remarkable tally with a goal assisted by defender Robson Sheldrake.

Immediately after, Jake Youngs replaced Bilchev, bringing the game to a close with Ipswich Wanderers celebrating a dominant 9-0 triumph. Aden Bilchev was rightly named player of the match for his outstanding contribution, scoring five goals and providing numerous assists, proving to be the driving force behind Ipswich Wanderers’ emphatic victory.
